Photocopiers/MFP's and Printers

 

Photocopiers and printers are often purchased based on their "headline" price. Although at first this seems very cost effective, many people fail to take into account the total running costs known as "TCO" (Total Cost of Ownership). Once purchased you will have tied yourself into buying specific consumables that are often very expensive. Replacement inkjets or toner cartridges often cost as much, or even more, than the original cost of the printer throughout it's life. In fact, recently (May 2023) a client was about to purchase a colour A3 inkjet printer for a school photography department. When we looked at exactly the machine they were about to purchase and compared it to what we suggested, the saving was calculated at £7,000.00 over 3 years!

 

Recently we have seen some suppliers offering "3 Tier Billing" or "Low & High Colour Billing". Whilst this can look good on a spreadsheet it rarely is suitable for schools. For more information please click here.
